Consumer Corner — Face Shots

If there’s one sweeping observation I can safely make about all (yes, all!) spanking videos that I’ve ever seen (and we’re talking dozens and dozens, if not hundreds), from all (yes, all!) production companies, it’s this: not enough face shots.

Rodney Dangerfield jokes aside, have you ever dated a girl with a paper bag over her head? Of course not. Have you ever wanted to? Again, no. Faces are an important part of personal and sexual attraction, maybe even the most important part. Can you really be attracted to a girl in a video whose face you’ve never seen? Personally, I can’t. A hot body is great, curvy, round buttocks are beautiful, breasts are lovely, and shapely legs make me crazy. But without a face to go with those various parts, they’re just that: disembodied, impersonal parts. For a girl or woman to truly spark my interest, she needs a face. It makes her real.


Some companies are better than others at showing faces. Red Hot Video gives good face most of the time. But not always. And even when they’re relatively forthcoming with the face shots, I still find myself wishing for more. RealSpankings is up and down. The Tears video has phenomenal “faces” footage. But many of their other videos don’t.

Shadow Lane has good editing. They tend to cut to the face to show a reaction. But they go back to the rear end or some other angle relatively quickly. They don’t linger lovingly on the model’s face nearly enough. Cal Star has become famous (in my experience, at least) for using extremely pretty models and then barely showing us more than a few glimpses of their lovely faces. Red Stripe’s track record is no better.

Why tease us with photogenic models, if we barely get to see them? Some of those pretty models are even spanked to sobs that we hear but never see! It’s a waste two times over. And face shots are not just about tears and pain. It’s extremely erotic to see a pretty woman enjoying a spanking. In other words, face shots are great either way.

I’m aware of some companies that offer “faces” footage of a spanking, an entire sequence of just a model’s face during a spanking. I’m unimpressed. Why produce some kind of “artsy” or “fetish” niche video in which you see only the model’s face while a spanking occurs? While I appreciate the attempt (I think), it seems like a completely silly idea, and I haven’t yet seen a good execution of it. I mean, faces should not be fetishized like some sort of taboo object that belong in a their own sub-genre — faces should simply be incorporated naturally into the overall spanking experience. Why is that a hard concept?

The bottom line is that I would like to see a lot more of a model’s face in spanking videos. Am I alone in this, or are there others out there who feel the same? I’d love to hear your opinions on this either way.
